Instructors: Jean-Michaël Lavoie, Jimmie Leblanc, Caroline Traube
Years taught: 2019–2020, 2021–2022
Description: At the heart of this project is the creation of a research-creation ensemble, bringing together graduate students in composition and performance from the Faculty of Music, who collaborate interactively to conceive and solve problems related to the ensemble's orchestration.
Objectives:
- to develop an in-depth reflection on orchestration and the principles of perception that underlie its practice;
- to foster collaboration between performers and composers, bringing them together to formulate concrete research-creation problems;
- to study the integration of new computer-assisted orchestration tools;
- to document the creative process from the point of view of both composers and performers.
